I'm in MO, relicensing this year, and just received my packet with all the references (personal, work, etc.). Last time, I didn't have children, but I've since adopted one and he's in kindergarten, and having a very rough go of it. So this time around I get a school reference letter to send to them discussing not him, but my relationship with them. Depending on who fills it out, it could be awful (his first teacher who thought he should just get it in gear and behave, the VP who has calls me and discusses his Nth ISS, etc.) or fair (the counselor, or perhaps his new teacher, except she just wrote me that "she has had other children with worse backgrounds as (him) and they have come a long way. (he) needs to be responsible for his actions..." and (he) knows you (that's me) comes to his defense and so why should he care."). So the question is, all other things coming back good, which they will, how much weight will this get? Jan
school had just started when we had to do ours. Only problem is my DD was starting her first year of Jr High so noone knew us. They gave us a BAD refrence saying they did not think we was active parents . I was so shocked! She had JUST started the school there was NOTHING for us to do to be active!! Thankfully DHS knew this and ignored it but oh my Gosh I was so shocked! We also did get letters from her past teachers ect for them so maybe thats why they ignored it.
