matching fees

I never heard of that! Wow! I was doing matching for kids between 7 and 12 and we didn't have any fees. Not even our homestudy, because we had fostered first. Is it just your agency or is it something new?

my agency told me in order to adopt a child under the age of 10,you must pay for you profile to be sent to other counties/agencies.The fees are about $350. I am told that you cannot just go on the PAE website and find children yourself,your worker has to match you up with a child. Now if you want an older child,11 and over,there is no charge for your profile. I have adopt 4 children in the past,2 two year olds and 2 four year olds and never paid for more then my clearances. I guess this is something new PA is doing to order to get more older children adopted.

Hey..in my agency we have never been charged to send our profile over. We have been sent out over 50 times and nothing as of yet. We also are allowed to look at the Pa website and after getting their permission...to Ohio and if we find a child we think is a possible match...we call our agency and they sent a homestudy over. They also, find kids for us too and call us on them as well. I am from the western Pa area...where are you?..is it just your agency? Because so far...we have not encountered that. Good Luck.

That was a mistake I think because when I contacted PAE the story changed and now its free. I live in Dauphin County,you can see Hershey Pa from my house. Placements are slow here....or so thats what they tell me so I have not gotten any matches yet

So you live near Hershey. I have always wanted to visit Hershey Park...we plan on going out there someday in the future as we all love amusement parks. Plus anywhere that is named for Chocolate is awesome. Though only 1 of my 2 boys loves chocolate. The other hates it..which is shocking. Far as the fees, glad to hear they don't charge..whew...thought if they changed that..that would be bad. Things here have been slow, except this last week which was nuts. My hope is that we find the ONE in the next few months. But again, God's in control and this is one time to trust him and know he will work out all for the best. Good Luck to you! God Bless!

I live in Hummelstown but my kids go to school in Hershey.Its nice here the park is okay but my kids love it.I guess living so close and smelling that chocolate makes you take it for granted a lot.I kind of thought they were trying to get me to give them all that money but when I challenged it they changed their tune.i am glad because now they are trying to match me with kids.

To smell chocolate would be awesome! I am going to be 37 in July and really have not been able to enjoy chocolate for years with my heart issue. It just makes my heart race..but oh if I could. In heaven, I joke with my boys that they have pools and fountains of chocolate and when I get up there..that is where I am heading....:woohoo: Glad you are sticking with your plan and getting your agency to work WITH you. I know our agency was balking at the idea of us looking at Pa AND Ohio..they did not want us looking out of the state. After they got a bit mad, now they have given us their blessing...I guess they thought we may find another agency immediately if they didn't agree. Initially they gave us a hard time. Now they too have changed their tune. But we told them up front we wanted to be able to look at these 2 states to start with. In the end if we decide to pursue adopting again..we will prob switch with an agency that allows us to look at all states!

Oh so the placement calls of the children were not from Pennsylvania? Maybe I should check into that because they (my agency)are not calling much at all unless its for children out of our range or harder to place. When they get babies and younger kids they call someone else.

All the placement calls are from PA..but they are foster kids and foster to adopt situations..but also WE are looking into straight adoption situations in PA and Ohio. We look at photolistings and then call our SW with info on WHO we want more info on and who we want to put an "official" homestudy in for. I know one agency in OHIO does all states. They are in Toledo Ohio. They have the name "America" as the second word in THEIR name. Put the word of what you want to do ...we want to _____ a child! And you have the name, Without giving it away. As I am not sure if we are allowed to name an exact agency on this forum...so I will respect that. But this particular agency does allow the adoptive family to look in ALL states. But this is for adoption. Not sure if they do fostering...don't think so. But adoption for sure. They deal a lot with the bigger states. We may go with them if we still want to adopt but don't find a match with our current agency. Right now, though we are going to continue on this path and see if anything works out. We are hopeful BUT realistic..but most importantly...we want what God wants. I would rather not do anything..if it is going to be wrong for us as a family. I pray each night, that God gives me HIS will. What HE wants. He knows me best afterall..he knows what my DH and kids need too...what is best for this next child...above all..this new child WE need to be right for. We can fall in love with a child and we could be the worst kind of parents for HIM/HER....so first and foremost..I want God to pick out a child who WE will be best for. So I will have to see what happens!

My agency charges for all other states except Pa.I will see if I can find children here and if not I will see about looking at other states.Prayfully I can find some here soon

Our agency charges a homestudy cost for out of state adoptions. But seemingly Ohio is now open. LOL I really want to find a child in this state..but it seems like there is few kids with our criteria available. They have called us on foster placements..so right now with the latest news on the boy we were supposed to be considered for, fostering then adopting a child may be our only option. OR it may just be time to jump in and get pregnant...no matter what that entails! LOL
