Hi all -
We're in the homestudy phase of foster-to-adopt, and I'm looking for some audio books that my sweetie can listen to on her work commute. Any suggestions of adoption-specific or general parenting books available in any audio format (CD, tape, MP3 all OK)?
We're hoping to adopt siblings, so one or more non-infants.
Thanks!
I too have been searching for any kind of audio "stuff" that's about adoption and come up empty quite a bit, but I have a Microsoft Zune (mp3 player) and found the Foster Parent Podcast on there. I believe it's also available on iTunes and through their website.
I was listening to it when we were having some major issues with our soon to be adopted daughter and it brought sooooo much relief to hear people who understood some of the behaviors we dealt with.
Not sure if I can post the website, but if you google "Foster Parent Podcast" and it comes up first in the results. It's by a couple (Tim and Wendy). and I believe I've seen Wendy post on here before.
Check it out--I caught up listening to ALL of the podcasts in less than a week and now I try to wait (patiently) for new episodes

Congratulations on getting to the Homestudy phase! Before you know it, all this licensing stuff will be behind you.
I too am a Foster to Adopt Parent. My agency requires us to read "Beyond Consequences". I know I have posted that other places on this site. However, this part I haven't posted, the Beyond Consequences program has a lot of information available on Audio. Here is the link to the audio part of their store. By the way, I have found that books and programs that are specific to Adoptive families (as opposed to typical parenting books) discuss the topics that are more appropriate for me as a parent.
Blessing to you and your wife on your journey.
