My daughter is 16. About 1 1/2 years ago, she became a totally different person. Sex, drugs, failing grades, sneaking out, drinking, associating with criminals, running away, etc... The last straw was when the police brought her home one night. We tried therapists, psychiatrists, Finally we went to the Depart. of Soc. Services (We adopted through them.) They have a dept, Adoption Preservation. They suggested a therapuetic girls home. She has been there for 4 months. She could be out in Dec. I am looking for anyone who has had similar experiences. Has anyone gone through something like this? Do you think this will help?

my suggestion would be to cross post this in special needs adoption--many of them have been through similar situation and can provide you a lot of advice.
It can only help if your child wants to change. If she is NOT interested in change, look for an independant living facility of check into job corps as options.
My son went to an RTC and got kicked out of an independent living program but at 20 is a US soldier and a fine young man.
GSE, what has been the outcome with your daughter? Is she back home? Has she changed? I am going through similar experience with a 15-yr old.
