So my daughter turns 3 right After Christmas and I want a special doll (wanted one that sucked a pacifer) but everyone keeps telling me I have to get the bitty baby. SO I am pondering that now. I know that she doesn't have any bells and whistles but what makes her any better than a wal mart $10 doll? And assuming I get her, I want to get an outfit for my daughter to match but she is a true 3 and the small is a 3 and the m is a 4-5. Does anyone know if they run big, small or true to size. I hate to spend that much on something and her wear it a month but then again I hate to buy her something she can't wear for 6 months or so. Thank you.

My daughter is 6 and has just about every doll possible including 3 Bitty Babies. She loves the dolls by Corolle. They have a doll called Lila who coos, cries, and has a pacifier. The Bitty Baby is cute but it is also something you could wait for a year or two. (My daughter wants another one this year.) If you do decide to get outfits, they run different depending on what you are buying. PJ's/sweaters always run small, dresses run true to size.

I posted on another thread about "Bitty Baby" so I'm just going to copy and post what I said there (I'm lazy today).
WE LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Bitty Baby! My daughter was 3 the first Christmas she spent with us, I thought she was too young for such an expensive doll, so I bought her other gifts..... at the last minute I decided the doll really would be a great gift for her, so I ordered it for her (and of course had to pay extra$$$ to have it shipped express so it would get here in time for Christmas). She was so happy and after YEARS of star wars, lego, power rangers, ninja turtles, etc. I was so happy to be able to buy Girlie Presents.
Bitty Baby has splept in bed with my daughter, gone on trips, been to every hospital visit and most doctor's visits E has gone to (I was able to buy Bitty Baby a hospital gown and a wheelchair which has made my daughter feel better about her situation) I know it's expensive but my daughter is 8 and still will play with her Bitty Baby doll occasionally....so if you figure she plays with it for 5 years, I think it's worth it.
Re: the clothes sizes, I've only bought the pj's and I thought they ran a little smaller than true size. Here's a pic of my daughter and Bitty (the hospital gown is not nearly as cute as most of the clothes...and believe me our Bitty Baby has ALOT of the cute clothes :) )
Pottery Barn has some nice dolls that my Dd (4 yo) would love. Of course, Dd would luuuuuuuuve any doll, so that's not a true measure. I second the recommend for Corolle. They do have nice dolls. We used to get Madame Alexander dolls but I haven't found a place to even buy those for years. Do they still make them?We bought a less expensive doll at probably Wal-Mart (I can't remember where) and it's been fine. Nothing super, just fine. I do throw it in the washer, which is nice. Plastic head, arms, legs, cloth body; we have a front loading washer so dollies and stuffed animals can be washed in there with little worry of manglement. If I'd paid more for it I don't know if I'd be willing to toss it in the washer! LOL
Barksum

I'd not even looked them up online! :o LOL All the nifty independent toy stores that used to have them seem to have gone out of business. Wal-mart doesn't have them (ROFL) and neither does Toys R Us. In our area the little toy store is a thing of the distant past. :(
Anyway, thanks for the link, Soup. :)
We're a big American Girl doll family, but I never liked the Bitty Babies myself and my girls didn't either because they wanted their dolls to have "real" hair. We got a tiny Corolle doll for each girl at 3 and they've been very popular. The Mon Premier Calin doll is sized smaller and is huggable -- the clothes are really cute. They also make one that can go in the bath, by the way. However, I do have friends who have the Am Girl Bitty Baby and loved it -- no judgement, just my girls' opinions. Their dolls are beautifully made and last forever. The American Girl clothes all are made really well and run true to size from my experience. For a little older child, we adore the Bitty Twins (my 4-y/o gets her first set this Xmas) and then it's on to the many overwhelming choices of the classic series! love it. Have fun choosing, susan

Well my 20 year old found a mad alex baby online she wants to get. I hate to sound like a new comer to the doll world since I have a 20 d, but I have never hear of corel dolls. Fixing to look them up right now. We did our "after" thanksgiving shopping today. For those of you who are big shoppers, 95 percent of friday sales are marked today. The only thing we missed out on is the door busters. (aerpostal had a free bear with purchase that was adorable but heck we didn't have to fight the crowds) We have done this for several years and it works much better for us. Good luck to those of you who brave the crowds friday.
Hey L, maybe you should check this doll out that I found online today! Don't get me wrong, I'm all for breastfeeding but REALLY.............Meet Bebe Gloton, the breast-feeding doll that comes with its very own nipple bra | Mail Online
