Hi Forum! Me and my husband have applied to foster children and we got a call back and they set up the first interview in my home on the 6th of Jan. I was wondering what would go on exactically on this first interview?? What kind of questions will they ask??? Will they do a home inspection??? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks Everyone
There will be classes. In NY, they're called MAPP classes. We had homework with our classes. Homestudy was done. caseworker came to the house 2 or 3 times. Criminal background check and fingerprints are submitted. You'll have to get medicals. You do the application, giving your preferences (if you have any). Once everything is done, you wait for the call. I was done in July and got my first call in September. Good luck!! There are great threads here. You should find out anything you need to know.

I am assuming every place and case worker is different, so you may get several different answers.
Our LW sat down with us and went over what the process was, a bit about foster care in our state, gave us forms we needed to fill our or things we needed to do (finger prints), etc. She didn't do an inspections, but from the dinning room you can see half of the downstairs so I assume she made mental notes of what it looked like. It seemed like this was more of a getting-to-know-you meeting as well as a chance to pass along paper work and answer any questions we might have.
There wasn't an official walk through till we were done with classes. I'm not sure if this was because of their work load or what, but that is how it happened here.
Good luck. I was so nervous when having the LW over but it ended up being not such a big deal and she was very nice. Hopefully you will have the same experience.
