i know it hasn't been that long since i started the adoption/ foster care process, but it has been so long that i have wanted to be a mom, and now that i am finally approved it is like a weight lifted off my shoulders, we already have a foster to adopt placement and we start weekend visits this friday, i am so excited and yet a little nervous, as i have never been a mom before and if everything goes well this weekend, then i will be a mom to two children a 5 year old boy and an infant girl, i really hope it does! any words of advise would be great. also i was wondering if anyone could tell me how you put the extra info at the bottom of your posts (like how many kids you have and their ages, ect.) oh, and we are considering calling about an eight year old boy from northern PA on the photolisting, anyone ever done that before? does it go through, or would you say it is not worth the time? thanks in advance for any help/ advise you may have.
Wow! Congratulations to you on your speedy match!! If you mean that you are thinking of calling the SWAN helpline to get info on a child, I can tell you my experience. They can give you some useful information on kids that are listed on the site. I have only sent one request for more info and that did not go well. The agency has two weeks to respond, and in my case, they took that whole time to call my cw and say they had gotten a whole bunch of homestudies and were not accepting anymore. We did not even get a chance even though I called the day they were listed. Of course, this is not SWAN's fault and you could get better results depending on the child's cw. As for SWAN, I am waiting 3 1/2 weeks to hear back on a simple question. Good luck to you!!

well for the most part it went well, there were some hard parts this weekend like with tantrums and not wanting to go to sleep:hissy: , but for the most part it was good. now we just have to wait for the county to decide if they can move in with us as our foster to adopt children, i'm starting to miss them a bit.:( also, i tried contacting swan about two little boys on the pae website but since i was just approved last week, i am not registered with swan yet and they can't give me any info until i get registered:(
