Hello, I was wondering if anybody can help me understand "relative placement preference" compared to "caretaker preference placement". I understand in the state of California relatives usually get preference but when and how does this "caretaker perference placement" out weigh relative placement. Thanks....

if the child has been with you for more than six months then you can file for Defacto parents status when they go for TPR. Sometimes this helps but not always. Usually there needs to be a really good reason not to place with a relative.

Yes we have defacto, we have had our FD for 15 months, since she was 2 days old...TPR is coming up....
