Hi all. my name is Jenna, and I am the proud mommy to Gina (7) and Chris (6). we have had Gina since she was 7 months old, and Chris since he was 19 days old. they are the joys of our lives! We are in open adoptions with both.
Now, we have G-Anna, who is now 10 weeks old. we picked her up from the NICU when she was 14 days old. We do foster to adopt, and were just given permission to nurse!!!!!!!!!!
So, I have begun the process, and already she is learning to latch well! Right now we are nursing for comfort, until I get my Lact-Aid in ... we also have the Breastflow bottles, which mimics the breast best and she took to that like no tomorrow! :D
I hold her in the football hold, which seems best for both of us, AND .. the cool thing is, I can still hold her like that when she is being bottle fed as well (until the lactaid comes in) and the way things work out, its VERY MUCH like being on the breast! YAY!
I began taking Fenugreek, and drinking "mothers milk tea" along with red raspberry tea, nettle tea, and red clover tea.
Ladies, this is a true dream come true. we were unable to attempt with Gina and Chris, for reasons at that time. and now with G-Anna, its just working out so wonderfully! I nearly bawled last night, when she fell asleep nursing. she looked so peaceful, and once in a while she still suckled and it was just ...... sigh .. a dream come true. :)
Anyways. even if I never get a milk supply (Im thinking Ill get at least a bit!) Im going to use Lact-Aid, so either way she will be able to breast feed. :) which to me, is the whole point. :)
anyways. . . wanted to introduce myself, and jump on in. Ill keep y'all updated as to how things go! :)

Jenna,
Wow, good for you!
We are expecting our baby girl in 8 weeks. I have been pumping now for 4 months and getting 8-9 ounces per day, that I am very faithfully storing in the freezer :)
I am really hoping that I dont even have to use the lactaid but one side is really lacking (only 2 ounces) so I will likely need it for that at least!
Gramma7k, great to see a pro here! Maybe you can give me some tips on my underproducer :) I get 7 or more ounces on one side and only 1/5 to 2 on the other.
