Just wondering about referrals in Pa. Our current private agency says things are looking up but mostly for harder to place children. We are changing to a county agency at the end of the month. Not sure how long we wait to be approved once the transition begins. Has anyone out there switched and how long did it take? Are county agencies getting any kiddos? Really it is great if there are no kids. That is of course as long as things in homes are going well.

Glad to hear things are picking up somewhere in PA! Nothing exciting here, a few referrals this year but not selected. Last referral was last week. Maybe this is our week??
I am with one agency but will be switching to another soon after my adoptive homestudy is done. I was once told that I could start the process to become a foster parent with a new agency before I quit the old one. I just had to make sure that before I am officially licensed/open with the new agency, I must provide a letter that says I resigned from the old one. Maybe you could do the same?

Nothing here either and its been almost 13 months!! My agency says referrals are down and they are only getting much older teens(somehow I can't believe that).
It seems in 13 months I would have had at least one referral.
I really want to switch but I am hesitant to do it......
Good luck to you, I hear that county is a lot better when it comes to referrals then private agencies.
I also heard they have to dig deeper into bio families for relatives who may be interested in helping out. We were also told their is a big push for adoptions to happen quicker. Both things are great for the kiddos. It can be disappointing for all of us. I have to admit , we are nervous about the change. Not sure what might happen. Thanks for the well wishes.

My worker called me yesterday( I thought I was being matched) to tell me the same thing. She said you can almost rule out younger kids because they are going to family and if not family someone they are associated with. She also said when younger child do come in care they are snatched up right away.
She said that the only children they are getting right now are those with severe issues that are in the late teens.
I believe it somewhat, but come on its been over a year.........
Just checking in to see if you made the switch to county? How did that go? Did you receive any referrals? We are thinking of switcing from a domestic infant adoption program to foster care, but not sure if we want to continue with our private agency or go with the county. Any experience? Suggestions? Thanks.

My agency worker (in take coordinator) said that referrals have been up this past week...and they weren't teenagers. We got asked about a 10yr old girl (coming out of an RTF). We accepted and met her today. We are moving forward with the placement. She said she also had a referral for a 6yr old girl (severe issues though).
They may be up for everyone else but not for me. I am also open for placements of younger children and they are not calling me for anything. I just dont understand how some people can continuely get calls and the only ones they call me for are the ones out of my age range. And since I opened back up I only got one referral.
Oh well, maybe I will have better luck with the kids I am looking at out of state........
