Heading to hearing on Wed., with my DH. Should I try to have a lawyer with us, we plan to fight for keeping our FD? Or should I wait until Fair hearing if it goes to that? What should I expect I have been to many court hearings but htis is a first for us, TY in advanced.
I'm sorry no one has replied to your thread. I'm wondering how it went today? If you don't want to lose your FD, lawyer up. If you can afford one, and really don't care whether you foster any more or not (some agencies really get ticked off when you hire a lawyer and won't place with you again if you do), I'd say go get one now!
You'll have to pay a retainer (usually at least $500) and then they'll bill you by the hour. It could get expensive, but then again, maybe not.
If you really love your FD and couldn't imagine life without her, a lawyer is most likely your best bet.
Good luck and keep us informed!
Sending good thoughts/prayers your way, too.

I would say the answer would be based on how long the child has been with you and circumstances of the case. If you post more details, you'll probably get more responses. Good Luck
