Does anyone have suggestions for books that would be helpful for bio kids in foster families? 1) children's books that will help elementary aged kids understand where foster kids are coming from (and hopefully encourages them to have compassion and patience with foster sibs). 2) parenting books to help me help my kids deal with having foster sibs 3) Memoirs or other similar books written by adults who were permanent children in families that fostered children.
Thanks so much!
I don't know of any books for elementary age kids. If any one else has any I am also interested. I know my bio kids would benefit.
Some books I have read are:
Another Place at the Table and One Small Boat by Kathy Harrison
The Middle Mom by Christie Erwin
Saving Adam by L. Smith
and Swings hanging from every tree, daily inspirations for foster and adoptive parents. I read this every day and love it! It always seems to be just what I need to hear.
