Had the hearing a couple day ago, and little man is still with us! We are so happy:cheer:
My question is this. We had our first visit last week. I arrived 15 minutes early for pick up and as I was walking in, the dad was leaving-yes,15 minutes early. He couldn't even stay the whole hour?
Then, we had our second visit today which is to be 2 hours long. I left the building 15 minutes after drop off time and the dad still was not there. I haven't picked up yet, so I don't know if he showed and if he did how it went. Also, at the last visit, the CW said he didn't show much interest in little man either.
Soooo, I am wondering how these things will affect ru if it continues. Anyone have any similar experiences?
How long has the little guy been in care?
I feel like if they are missing visits in the beginning of the case, they aren't going to get their child back, but that is totally just my opinion and my experience. In my experience, birthparents typically don't all of a sudden start coming to visits. Usually they are most interested in seeing their child when their child first enters foster care. The longer the child is in care, the easier it seems to skip visits.
Now, on the other hand, I see birthparents typically do nothing on their case plan for the first 3ish months, and then get to work. So if bp was attending visits but doing nothing else in the beginning of the case, I'd say they could easily be getting it together to get their child back.
But, of course there is no way to tell.
I can tell you that birthparents of both of my children (totally different sets of bps) missed visits frequently from the very beginning of the case, and all throughout the case. Like visit percentages of 50%, 42%, and 37% after a year in care.
just wanted to add- do you have the "15 minute" rule? If bp is more than 15 minutes late to a visit, it is cancelled and not rescheduled (and counted as a missed visit)?

Well he has been in care for a couple of months-first with a relative, and then with us for about 3 wks. He has only had 2 visits so far with his bp's and the mother has been to both and has been on time and involved. I did learn that the father did not show up at all today but he was supposed to be there for the visit.
