I have a real heart for teens I say I want to adopt kids older than ten but if I am being really honest it is more like older than 14. I live in a small state so feel limited if I only try to adopt in my state. Would like to hear from anyone who as adopt teens from out of state. What were the hang ups besides just not hearing back when you inquire. I know that will be an issue.

The main thing you will learn is that no matter how great your family may be, you will always be a second class citizen in the eyes of the child's CW because you are in a different state. They invariably try to place the child in the home state as priority one. It can and does happen but it is harder to be selected if there is competition from within the state.

on the flip side though, older teens aren't the highest in demand, so you have that advantage
wishing good things for you!!
(somebody I know just adopted a teen from out of state and had a pretty easy process it seemed like, so it's doable, just be persistent, she said they inquired about many, MANY kids before getting a response)
