Our adoption was finalized yesterday.:D :D
We qualify for the subsidy based on the fact that we adopted a sibling group. I have seen several posts that the subsidys are often late. What day do you generally receive the subsidy on? We have filled out the paperwork for direct deposit but was told it would take up to 45 days to process and to expect our first check by mail. Let me also state, for those that may take this question and think it is all about the money, it's not. We have had these kids in our home for over a year with NO monetary subsidy or help at all due to the fact it was a kinship placement. It has definitely taken a financial toll and although the subsidy isn't a great deal of money, it will help out with the routine maintence of the day to day costs. Thanks for any info you can provide.
You have no reason to apologize. Hopefully everyone on this board understands what the money is for, and why it is needed.
Congratulations on the finalization. Very exciting.

We get 2 checks each month (2 separate adoptions). They almost always come together, usually on the 7th of the month. If the checks will be late for some reason, they let you know. Problems are rare.
Congrats on your finalization!
Agree - you so don't need to apologize!! This is just another part of someone isn't doing what they're supposed to or your stuff got lost. We received our first check in the mail within a month. They told us 45 days too. Then after we got our second check in the mail, they included a form to fill out for direct deposit. Now our subsidy goes into our account directly on the 4th or 5th of every month. You need to contact your CW and have him/her rectify this and you should be receiving a large retroactive payment. It starts the day your children move in. If your CW doesn't provide you immediate results, I would contact Latasha Henry in Austin at 512-919-7965. She is the State Adoption Assistance Contact per the DFPS website. Good luck!!
The subsidy checks go out on the 1st Wed. of every month. We too receive subsidy because our son was over 2 & a minority. We have had people say "why did you adopt if you can't afford the kids?", what they don't understand is that subsidy gives our son even more, he can join karate, camp & enjoy many perks! The college tuition subsidy along with the monthly amount has allowed us to adopt ANOTHER child because we don't have to worry about those things. I have never had my check be late, EVER. Just remember its mailed the 1st Wed of the month. Also our worker forgot to turn in our paperwork, so once they go it they sent us the 4 months worth. Hope that helps!
