Is anyone out there in the process of a Honduran adoption? We are thinking of starting in 2012 and would love some feedback on how it is going so far. Also, what are the current wait times for a referral? Thanks!
I was told it is very hard to adopt from Honduras. I was down there on a missions trip in July. Becasue of problems with the goverment and so on it can take years.

We are in the process of adopting from Honduras. They recently opened to adoptions again. We expect our dossier to be down there by October, at the very latest. There have been huge changes at the government level and Honduras is now very pro-adoption. There are four U.S. agencies that are allowed to complete adoptions in Honduras. It is a very new program and is a "pilot program" so there are many unknowns at this point, which is a risk but we are willing to see what happens with this.
Thanks for your feedback! Would you mind sending me a PM with your agency name? We are still hoping to begin the adoption process next year. Very excited for you!
Buenos Dias and Good Morning Tex Fan;
While or since you are waiting until 2012.
If it were my own Adoption (s), or if I were you.
I would Research and Educate My Familia and Self.
Both on Honduran and International Adoptions as the entire picture.
As well as Our United States Adoption Protocols for CIS or A.K.A. Immigration.
As well as searching and finding a 'Seasoned' Adoption Attorney or Agency.
I would also Very Highly Recommend Joining both of the Honduras Adoption and Adoption Agency Research Yahoo Groups.
Texas' State International Adoption Yahoo Group. As well as any International Adoption Yahoo Group.
(I am from California and we have an Active and Awesome Statewide and Statewise International Adoption Yahoo Group!!)
As well as from been there and done that Experiences. I would also keep an Open Frame of Mind. I would not fixate on Adopting From Honduras, and not just close the door on Adoption from other Countries.
As others are doing. I would not look at International Adoption through either or both 'Rose Colored Glasses', or 'Starry Eyes' Either'!!
International Adoption is Definitely a 'Roller Coaster' Ride and not for the faint or timid of heart!!
7000 Children are also currently on Texas' State Foster Care Roles. Most Little Ones by their 2nd Birthdays will be Institutionalized in Nursing Homes!!
My Husband and I through Blended Marriage.
We have Successfully brought home 19 Children from both of Central America and Asia!!!
We both Adopted as Single Parents. We now have blended both of our Familias Together!!
Both El Salvador and Honduras have been Abieto or Open to Adoptions for many years currently or now!!
Before recently or A.K.A. this last late winter or spring February-March 2011.
Prepare to be Shocked!!!
The Adoption Process was or is a 8 A.K.A. Oucho or Eight Year Time Frame from start to completion or to possibly or maybe bring the child (ren) Home To America!!
In talking or speaking Reality also. There are no Guarantees pertaining to Adoptions in Any Country including the United States!!
As an Adoptive Parent, you have nada or no real Active Participation in the Adoption process!!
Having a Guarantee of Si and or Yes. In the end you will bring your Baby or Child Home.
Used to be Both an International Trend. As well as the Advocative and Generalized Appeal regarding or with International Adoptions!
When my DH and I first started our Adoptions.
Even Adoptions in Our United States with being able to Adopt as well as to bring the child or children home!!!
Adoption Profiles or Program Expectations in Any Country have changed alot!!!
The Central America Adoption Agency who uses their Initials on the Internet.
They are a Fairly or spring of 2011 'New Kid On The Block' in the Adoption World!!
Personally, I would go with a much stronger Advocating or 'Seasoned' Agency, or the Attorney from the Honduras Adoption Yahoo Group. Who specializes in Honduran Adoptions!!!
It is Definitely a 'Roller Coaster' Ride!!!!
Definitely Not for the Timid or weak of Heart!!!
As well as an Extremely Rare Experience!!!
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the Duggar Familia and Friends from TLC's 16 to 19 Kids and Counting, my and or our Familia, and our Consortium of other Familias and Friends.
We have been part of a Consortium of Adoption Advocacy with only Public Outreach and Awareness. No Dinero or Money involved. Speaking with both the Honduran and El Salvadoran Governments.
All that we have requested and have a Voice in is specifically reducing the 8 year Adoption Process Time Frame.
Our Consortium Adoption Advocacy has only and recently started back in late winter February and early spring March of 2011!!
Personally, and from my point of view. I would NOT say as well that our Adoption Advocacy has been very or quite Successful either???!!!
Our Advocacy and this Issue have been 'On the Table' since December of 2008 also!!!
Personally, I would say more.
That our Advocacy and what we believe, have Faith, and Hope For Familias for the Orphans for.
Just that it is a Start or Beginning.
For now at least both the United States and President OBama and the Honduran and El Salvadoran Governments are Currently Listening and Reasoning In The Best Interests of Orphans!!!
Again, I would like to stress. That as an Adoptive Parent in Any International Country. You have no Active Participation!!!
Reduction of Central America's Adoptions Processes Time Frame.
Is the Only Advocacy as American Citizens that we are able to Fully Advocate into Awesome Greatness!!!
The 8 or A.K.A Eight or Oucho Years Adoption Process.
What it has previously meant to Adoptive Familias.
No Infant, Toddler, or Little One in your Arms, Feelings, First Experiences, and Emotions, and No Baby Shower Memorabilia!!!
Prior to Last late winter or early spring. Adoption from Honduras meant. That if you choose to Adopt an Infant.
(Which is extremely very rare also!!!)
You have an 8 Year Old Kindergartener (Due to NO Language or ESL) who has been Institionalized.
In both Truth and Reality, in comparision to Guatemala who is currently closed to New Adoptions!!!
There are not a whole lot of Infants Special Needs or with No Special Needs in Any Country!!!
Who will Meet President OBama's and Immigration Definition and Criteria of a True Orphan!!!
Our United States will not Allow Any International Adoptions. If the Birth Parents are Legally Married, or Dad is working truly in any way shape and form of supporting his Familia Either!!!
Our Ministry Program Advocates a Free Day Nursery Program, so Working Parents can support their Familias
President OBama and our United States Government requires and will Nullify the Adoption. If the Child reaches their 14th Birthdate!!
The Eight or Oucho or 8 years Adoption Process.
Has meant that only Infants and 3-5 year olds or Preschool Children could meet President OBama's and the United States Government's US Immigration Clearance and Status Standards Quo!
Older Children were Automatically Excluded By Both Countries from their Advocacy and Rightsa to having both Parents and a Familia!!!
Keep The Faith!!!

Hi Sidney08,
We are beginning to research Honduras adoptions. Could you PM me the names of the four US agencies approved to complete adoptions from Honduras? And if you are pleased so far with your agency. Any advise would be great!
Thanks!

we have a Guatemalan daughter and are looking into some other Latin American countries, honduras being one of them.
Hi:
Im thinking about adopting from Honduras as well. Can you also PM me with the names of the four agencies accredited for adoption there? I'd really appreciate it!
....Regarding their process / adoption in Honduras please.
I saw a lot of talk here a couple of years back for that country, but we were not ready then.
But now I am hearing that Honduras has the highest murder rate in any nation. I am interested to hear for those who completed their adoptions, how did it go, did you feel safe or threatened there. Did the process go smoothly? Thank you.
Edited in 2017 to add: Before we went to Ukraine we were warned up and down (on another forum) how unsafe it would be for Americans. That we were going to be victimized by unscrupulous people. Yet while there we felt completely safe, unthreatened in any manner by anyone, rather everyone we met was extremely helpful.
Please share your experience in Honduras.
