I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this.
#1. My husband and I would like to just straight adopt a sibling group of 2 to 4 children, 0 to 9 years old, any race, boys or girls (but do prefer boys), mild behavioral/emotional needs, mild educational/developmental needs and moderate or severe medical needs.
We would only want to inquire about kids that have already tpr'd. We would want to be licensed for foster and adoption so If we were chosen we could do the required 6 months in home wait period before adoption is legalized.
#2. We also want to foster medically fragile infants, any race or gender, any needs. We would assume going in that they would one day go to a relative, but If a baby eventually needs a home, we would adopt.
Is this kind of concurrence possible? Can we foster infants while at the same time try to locate a sib group that needs us?
We were hoping that we could get licensed for 5 so if our up to 4 sib group came along, we could continue fostering the baby.
Any idea? We have a 4 bedroom house and plenty of love to share.
Thanks in advance.
:thanks:

I would think you could do that as long as you are licensed for the number of kids you have in your home at any one time. If you are placed with an adoptive match, some agencies will make you wait 6 months before accepting any new foster placements, but I dion't think they would make you get rid of one you already have in the home.
Yes you can.
I've just been licensed and am looking for a sibling set the same age range, all races, any genders just like you, except I can't do the medically fragile. I am also not looking to foster children and looking for TPR'ed children too.
I also agreed to do respite to get some experience if it comes up.
In PA you can be approved for up to 6 with no other children in the house. For every bio you have, you have 1 less slot for the foster child. So if you had 3 kids, you could only get 3 fosters. I have a 5 bedroom house, so at first I thought 2 siblings then 3 then depending of their needs I know I could take in a larger set of 4 or if they are really mildly emotionally delayed only possibly 5. And then leave that one slot open for a foster child after a year or two.
For out of state, you should ask your agency if your going with a private one or the state directly. Some agencies will make you wait a year or longer to look out of state since they pay for your homestudy to be done. Or you can buy your homestudy from them for what they charge. I think it ranges from $1500-$2000 to buy it.
Sometimes the state the children are from would be willing to pay for your study.
