We have always inquired locally and have a had a few failed matches along the way. We decided to recently inquire out of state. Well, we were contacted about a sibling group in New Mexico. I am going to have my worker send our homestudy on Monday as she is out of the office today. The children's worker has informed me that they are having a team meeting and she was going to let the others know that she has found an interested family. She spoke of a phone interview and a staff meeting or something. Then full disclosure. I am wondering if anyone has any info on any of this. In MI, all we had to do was read the full disclosure, have a meeting and sign the intent to adopt. Also, she wants a family introduction letter. Now how do I go about this? We are excited though. Do you think we have a chance here? She has already forwarded our intial emails on to the rest of the staff (I can see that she has "cc"d everyone on our email threads). Sorry about the rambling.:D

No worries--nobody expects the prospective parents to know what to do. The social workers in NM will let you or your worker know what they need.Unless you get really lucky, you won't get the first kids you inquire on. It is good that they seem excited about you, but don't let yourself get attached to their pictures just yet. During our two searches we typically had about 20 inquiries going at any given time. We got matches in 2-4 months, but our agency says a year is about average for their clients.
