There is a new way to FIND LOST children or FAMILY members who were given up for adoption. Go to Family Tree DNA - Genetic Genealogy Starts Here or www.23andme.com and take the dna test. The test at family tree dna is called the Family Finder test. Any member of the birth family or any member of the adoptees family can take the test. It is a simple cheek swab. There is a computer program that will match up the dna and tell you if you are related to anyone in the data base which contains thousands and thousands of dna samples. It will tell you if you are half sibling or 1st cousin, uncle, etc.
The test at 23andme is called Relative Finder. That one requires you to spit into a vial . There are numerous people on both sites who are either birth family members or adoptees looking for their family. If you can afford it - do both. Do the test at 23andme and then transfer those results to familytreedna for a simple transfer fee. That way you will be on both databases and have a better chance of finding your lost family.:grouphug: :grouphug:
