searching

This is my first attempt at looking for my biological parents. I am open to to suggestions on where to get started. I know some very basic information regarding my adoption. My birth name was Melissa Ferguson and I was born in San Francisco at the French Hospital. I believe my adoption was finanlized right before Christmas in 1967. My birth father was irish and mother puerto rican. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about why, what do they look like, are they alive, what is my medical history. I feel like the Dr. Suess book "Are you my mother?"..... Can someone please assist me by pointing me in the right direction as to where I beign?
