Hey, all. We have been thinking of fostering to adopt a daughter. We have been married 10 years and have 3 sons.
We were getting very excited to go to the first class (orientation)... but then a family member reminded us of an issue in my husbands background. My husband has a misdemeanor for endangering the welfare of a minor...it was 8 years ago, he did probation and anger management and has not had an issue since. It cannot be expunged since the minor was under the age of 3.
It was really stupid. *I* called 911 because he hit our 2 year old. I'm really against any kind of physical punishment, and now of course, so is he...
I guess this is a really silly question... we are going to be denied a license, huh? UGHHHH, I guess we will never have a daughter. :(

Yes, you will probably be denied.
Yeah, I figured. :( I can't believe we forgot this.
We are meeting noting but resistance anyway. His parents and my parents both think it's ridiculous; and if "God wanted us to have a daughter, we would have had one." This just sucks. :(
Basically, where I am the rule is that if you are convicted of a 'crime against a person' you will be disqualified.
We got DH's background check, nothing mentions child.... and his misdemeanor was more than 5 years ago, so we are a go for fostering!!!!!

Excellent news! Just FYI-most of the children are reunited in Montco with some type of family members and there are mostly sibling groups. If you are in it for fostering only, then go for it!!!
