I am so excited. We are switching to the county and start classes in September. Our private agency has not sent us any children that are even close to our criteria and it has been 2 yrs.
Wish you the best. Where I live they first try to place kids through state foster homes and when that fails they try private foster agencies. That being said I am with a private agency and have never had a problem. There are so many kids in and out due to drug problems of the parents and terrible judges.

how hard was switching? did you have to go thru everything again, or just certain parts.
been 3 years for us :grr:
We have to start all over again. We finished the paperwork in one day-my work laptop was broken so I took 4 hrs to do all of the paperwork and ran to the bank and sent the criminal and PA child abuse checks. Maybe I will be a Mom by the time I am 50.

The private agency I went through had a thing we signed that if we went to any other agency and wanted to use the homestudy they did we would have to pay several thousand dollars. The state usually wants to do their own homestudy anyways. I have seen several people lately get rushed through the process because they had previously been licensed with no problems.
We are no longer going with our county. The recruiter told us mis-information. The director came back and said that they do not receive many single kids, mostly siblings and that most of them are RUed with family.
they also said that they are not really an adoption agency and only prepare families for adoption in case it works out that way.
I am so glad that I pressed harder. I do think that private agencies "specialize" in various ways (ethnicities, harder to place, therapuetic care, high medical needs).
So I am back to researching agencies. I just can't believe there is not one single girl out there that needs a home.

There are many kids out there that need a good home. The problem is the state just wants to use you and the kids to continually generate funds. As our first CW told us there is no money in putting kids in a permanent home where they will no longer need the system. If they did that, many of them would soon be out of jobs. The cycle of takings kids from birth parents, putting in foster homes, giving birth parents tons of free support, giving kids back, taking them from birth parents and starting cycle over is what works for keeping CYS in business.
PA is a terrible state for abused/neglected kids and has gotten worse since Gov. Randell passed Act 101 which makes it almost impossible for these children to get away from their abusers. A person abuses a pet and they never see that pet again. A person abuses a child and they are given endless opportunities to abuse that child again.
That is so sad but I see the truth in it. We are now going with another private agency that actually does place kiddos and specializes in younger kids. They gave me five names of families to speak to as well. They are very positive.
