Hello! My name is Kate, I'm a teacher and my husband, Phil and I have been married about 3 years! We are high school sweethearts and really excited to be going through this process.
My husband and I have started this process in June by going to information sessions. We finished out PRIDE classes in August. We were assigned a caseworker who didn't want to start our visits until we were finished PRIDE so our first visit was schedule for Sept 5. When she got to our house, she told us she actually has given her two weeks with our agency so she really won't be started our interviewing, she just wanted to go over some paperwork. DISAPPOINTING!! Anyway, we got to get our clearances started while waiting to be assigned with another casemanager. After 2 WEEKS of hearing nothing, I called and found out our old CM's boss is our new CM. She has been a little rude to me any of our encounters and she is coming to our house today for our first interview home visit. I am SOO nervous. We don't know what to expect truthfully, since I am a little hesitant with her based on our phone conversations. Oh, and she called and said she will be late! lol. We really are super excited to get this process complete, and I feel like she is slow and won't keep the process moving quickly. We were told their timeline is 120 days from date of review (which we were told was August 16 (since that was half way finished Pride classes). That would mean we should be set before the end of the year since 120 days is four months--but the way things are going I really don't feel that will be the case!
Any encouragement is appreciated!
BTW we are hoping to fost/adopt 0-2 year old so the age-range we are looking required us to pay up front for our home study which only makes it more frustrating that things are moving so slowly! We will be reimbursed from agency once an adoption is finalized if we did go through state (since we paid we can look interstate or even private adoption.)
WOW this long! Thanks for reading through if you have!
