I am just starting the process to foster in Missouri. I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on what agency to work with in Missouri. I'm looking to foster ages 0-2 but most importantly I want an agency that is relatively easy to work with. I contacted the Coalition and they matched me with an agency in STL County but their classes don't start until January. I'm in no rush I don't mind waiting but just wanted to see if any of you seasoned veterans had any input. Thanks!
I'm no veteran so I can't assist. We just went through classes and homestudy with the children's division. I do know there is the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, Catholic Charities, and a ton of others out there. I don't know costs, policies, etc.

Sorry. I'm not much help either. We are going through the local county, and love them. But, after the first of the year, they are phasing us to private agencies (outsourcing). So, we'll possibly be in the same search boat at that time.
We have also worked with Catholic Charities, getting a 24-hour foster placement from them once, and providing respite on a second occasion. The respite was handled well, the placement wasn't. They were prompt when dealing with us both times though.
Good luck!
When you say the Children's Division is that the county? How was it working with them? I thought about doing it that way but you hear all of these horror stories about working with the county.

Yes, the Children's Division is the county. I think it depends on where you are and what county you live in. I have had an excellent experience with everyone so far. My questions are answered quickly. I have cell phone numbers. I have email addresses. I am having no problems at all yet.
I'm in Maryland Heights so they placed me with an agency nearby which is great. So far they seem really nice but I thought it was weird that they had no classes from September until January.

No, actuallly I think that's standard. I was told they only offer classes twice per year, spring and fall. I was also told that those are only offered if they get enough interested enrollees.
Oh ok makes sense. Thanks for all your help. I knew you all would have the answers:love:
