For those of you in waiting or matched, I'm so sorry to hear of Putin's signing of the ban.:(
I'm disgusted by the misconceptions out there (organ donation, really??) and even more disgusted by the fact that so many children will simply never know a family, especially the ones with special needs.
My thoughts are with them and you.

I'm heartbroken for the waiting parents and even more so for the children who deserve families, but are much less likely to have one now. I look at my two adopted from Moscow and am so thankful for them. But at the same time I see what their most likely would have been without international adoption. My oldest is of mixed race (Caucasian and Asian) and had been turned down by 3 Russian families because of "her look." My youngest had an extremely rough star, was near death when arriving at the orphanage and had things on her medical that made it so most Russians wouldn't or couldn't adopt her because of the uncertainity of her health and the cost it may be to care for her. Home 9 months and she's thriving. My heart is broken and you all are in my prayers.Children should not have to grow up in SN orphanage. no matter how good the orphanage is, its just not a family.

I have not been on here in quite some time; however, as soon as I read the news regarding Putin's decision I felt the need to revisit the forum where I had once received so much support. I am so unbelievably saddened for any who were in the process, as well as for the poor children who are undoubtedly going to suffer as a result of - what seems to be a temper tantrum. I pray this "ban" will be short lived and families will be united soon.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. :(

My thoughts are also with everyone now "stuck" due to the ban. I remember not having any children and just being so anxious(and desperate) to become a mom. I hope everyone who is in process will be grandfathered in and get their kids. It's the humane thing to do for the kids and the families.
