Diva , Bookworm and Cakeboy were placed with grandparents after a year with fostermom. Cps Planned for termination and relative adoption. Now placement seems not so good. Judge ordered an extension and ordered cps and casa to visit home. My question is.....has anyone ever seen a relative placement like this result in a removal with kids going back into care ? Or to be moved to a non relative adoptive placement? This case is my friends foster kids.
My fks were gone for a weekend. At the end of the weekend family said they couldn't/didn't want to do it anymore and the kids came back here...

Wow. That was fast. These grandparents want the kids but court isn't happy with things going on in the home. I'm not sure how bad things have to be before they can be removed.
Our current placements were with a kinship placement and were removed from that home. There was other family but as of now they are in our pre-adoptive home. I think it's very possible.
Children do get removed from relative placements, but here unless there is substance abuse or DV, it is unlikely. Not unheard of, but unlikely.
Of my 4 placement, 2 have come from relatives. The first one was siblings that were placed with grandma. She was overwhelmed with their behaviors after 2 months. The kids were moved to my home and she got to be grandma.
The second one was an emergency removal due to domestic violence. The relative wanted my fc back, but the court said no. They were a pre-adoptive placement. Now my ffc is in another relative home.

They are allowing contact with the birthparent and judge doesn't like it.
Here, if the initial removal was due to neglect, that probably wouldn't cause a removal from the relatives. Lectures from the judge and a safety plan would likely be the end of it.
If the initial removal was due to egregious abuse, different story. There would be lectures from the judge and a safety plan, but a lot of time would be devoted to monitoring the family for compliance. After a safety plan was in place, one violation could easily be enough for removal.
Obviously, I'm speaking in generalities -- and applying generalities to a specific case is always a good way to get proven wrong.
So if they make a safety plan then I wonder how long they will monitor the situation. There are other details I can't share as well. They already broke placement rules but will likely be told they have one more chance. Do relatives usually straighten up after a warning ?
One of my placements is a removal from a preadoptive relative placement. Removed for substance abuse.
So yes, it does happen.

About half my placements have either come from failed kinship placements (they tend to place there first here if possible) or gone to kin and come back.

Some absolutely do, some don't, and some don't but get better at hiding the fact.
Cps is not happy with judges decision not to terminate and to leave kids there. They want removal from relative and termination on BP. The cps attorney is filing an appeal to a higher court. We have no idea what to expect. How long before the judge hears the appeal? Does cps ever win in these situations? Casa and cps are not happy.
I'm afraid I can't help -- I don't have any personal experience of CPS appealing a judge's decision.
