I am married and 46 we have been given the opportunity to adopt a newborn that the mother cannot take care of and wants a good home for!!!
Where do I start and what do I do?
She's in texas and I am in Ms.
Do I? I have never had children and neither does my hubby of 38 years of age!!
Are we too old?? What is right for the child? My hubby would stay home with the child while I work
The first thing you want to do is breathe.
Second, find a good adoption attorney in your area. Not someone who has done a few adoptions, but someone who is very knowledgeable in the field of interstate adoption.
Are you too old? Heck no. I adopted 2 boys (2 separate adoptions) who were born when I was 51, and I am single. Now at 57, my boys are 6.
Congratulations and welcome to the forums.

Congrats! I'm from MS too. We have one adopted daughter and have just started our search again, which is how I found your post. This is the same way we heard about our daughter. You will definitely have to hire a lawyer, I was just looking last night and there is a American academy adoption attorney in tupelo, Dan Davis. If that is too far, I'm sure you could find one closer. I bet he would be a great resource for what you need to do.i would also contact a lawyer where she lives. You should need a home study. If y'll are wanting. Baby, then what a blessing that it happened this way. Like I said, it was word do mouth for us, and that is what I've been praying for aGain. I'm looking at agencies and it is sooo overwheliming and more expensive than our private adoption. I will answer any questions you may have if you want to pm me.
