Hi,
My husband and I are trying to decide how to proceed. We have 2 sons and want to adopt a girl (please don't judge).
We realize our "big" choice is going to be between international and domestic adoption. We know that with international adoption, we know we can easily select a sex preference. However, we also know that most agencies that do newborn domestic adoptions will not allow sex selection.
If we do decide to pursue domestic adoption, can anyone give me advise about agencies that DO allow sex selection? I'd appreciate any advice - please just PM me. Thanks!
I ran into the same problem because we want a girl, also. An agency recommended to us that if we specifically want a baby girl, to go through China if we are looking at international adoption.

I seem to remember reading on here that many agencies will allow a gender preference if there's a "good reason" for it. Having 2 children of one gender and wanting to adopt a child of the opposite gender would qualify as a "good reason".
Some agencies will also allow you to pick and choose the situations you want to be considered for. You could always ask to be shown only to expectant moms who know they're having girls or for already born girls.
I found that most agencies will allow but for additional fee (infant domestic agencies) we are currently gender specific after our first adoption. PM me if your interested in our agency
From what I've heard and experienced, almost all the agencies allow gender selection.
We've done a foster adoption and we have talked to a private agency. Both allow gender selection.
Hi! I know this is kind of an old post but I'm hoping someone can help. We've contacted 2 agencies who've told us they won't accept a sex preference. This is puzzling to us as we've 4 daughters at home and hope that it's not controversial that we might want a son. We know that it is a sensitive thing for birth mothers but we're perfectly open to a crisis-situation child or toddler. Has anyone been in contact with an agency that has helped them with this? Many thanks in advance!

Have you tried to contact an attorney instead? We did not have a preference, but our attorney did not mind if you were only wanting one gender, but she just reminded people that ultrasounds are never perfect. You might want to try that route if you only want one gender. Good luck
Most International Countries, unless you choose Special Needs are either 'At a Stand Still' , or Closed for International Adoption.
Foster Care and Foster to Adoption lets you choose the Sex!!
