What are the benefits ( if any) in region 6 of going with a large well known agency over a small mom and pop one? I am drawn to the small one because of the adoption focus, but am concerned that we may not have as much of a chance to be matched as if we went with the later agency. Any thoughts?

That is a good question - from my understanding - when a child comes up for placement and agencies have a chance to present three families to be considered, you'll have a better chance of being presented with a smaller agency that has fewer families they are working with.
I think that all agencies have fairly equal chance of getting the child placed within their agency, size wouldn't matter in that regard.
I think that smaller agencies can tend to go the extra mile. It seems like they tend to be the ones that develop relationships with CPS and in turn get called directly from CPS when there is an emergency placement and not wait for the child to go to broadcast.
But this is just my observation from the few agencies that I know about. I too am in Region 6.
But all that said, I also believe that the child that is meant to be yours will find their way to you regardless of which agency you are with.

My understanding is the same as LoveBeingMama, except for some reason I thought that each agency could only present 2 families. Either way that means that with a smaller agency you don't have as many "internal" families to compete with before you even are competing with "external" families from other agencies.
Competing sounds like such a negative word but it was the best I could come up with to concisely make the point.
We are with a smaller agency as I previously PM'd you and we had our baby girl before we even received our official letter in the mail that we were certified.
Can't say enough how much we love our agency!
