After going round and round with our current agency and seeming to get nowhere. Classes were completed in May, then there was lost/misplaced paperwork, , a class had to be retaken, home study visit was done right before thanksgiving after waiting/asking for 6 and now there is a new requirement that will delay completion of homestudy for another 1-4 months. So frustrated that we are considering switching. we are considering switching. This would mean starting all over. Would you switch now or would you just continue on? Does anyone have an agency in region 6 that they absolutely love and would recommend??
Frustrated!!!
We switched agencies from Depelchin to Pathways in region 6 about this time last year. Most of the things we had completed in the process transferred, so it was not like starting over. I know we can't get into agency specifics here, but the change was right for us, we were quickly licensed and had a placement within a few months (and just finalized our adoption this month!!) Pathways was awesome every step of the way.

Thanks. I think I will call them to see what we need to do. I have all our paperwork... We were waiting for the home study to be completed.

I would think that most of the things will be a matter of transferring. However, most probably, whatever it is that will take a couple extra months to deal with will likely still at the new agency unless they just don't need it for some reason (but there were additional requirements that came through the pipeline so most likely necessary for the new agency also). Then you have the home visits at either agency. And then you have the amount of time it takes to write up the homestudy and have it approved and your licensed granted and sent to you (all within agency so up to them). Regardless, it is very likely going to take a month or two.
I can't imagine taking so long to get through the process though. I called our agency Jan 3rd and we were licensed March 3rd. And we had a couple extra hoops to jump through. I can see it taking 3-6 months TOPS unless you just don't do the paperwork (or possibly that you are going through the state directly which has its own issues).

That is crazy - how frustrating.
I delayed my own process while moving and changing jobs (same kind of job, different company) but once I was ready to move forward it did take a few months. The SW I had worked with had left that agency and it took the one replacing her a few weeks to get back to me, but then everything moved forward and I was licensed within three months and placed with my now adopted daughter one month later.
I will PM you with more details. In wouldn't think you would have to start completely over. Wouldn't some things transfer over?
Thanks everyone for you replies and messages. I did contact two agencies, however despite all the drama we've gone through, DH refuses to switch. It's not because of loyalty to or extremely affection for this particular agency; it is because we would have to redo all of the paperwork, some of the classes, etc. Too much to do to start over. Sigh....
Begrudedly moving forward :grr: :grr:

Hopefully it works out PERFECTLY for y'all.
Each time I think about the timeline for us fostering and our children, I am absolutely amazed. It is so incredibly neat. Sometimes, we just have to wait and see. Hopefully your story and timeline will be as neat as ours :)
Sometimes it is frustrating, but if we would not have had a few hiccups, then we would not be adopting a perfectly heathly little baby boy that looks just like my kids in baby pictures. :) We would have accepted another child and not been open for him.
