Hello all! My husband and I are within a week of licensing, and I am trying to get a perspective on what we can expect over the next few months. We are hoping to adopt a sibling set from TARE. I know that they have been open for inquires for at least 7 months, so I do not believe there are many families inquiring on them. So, I am looking for anyone with experience to share their stories. How long did it take from your initial inquiring to the CW's response? Did the adoption go quickly? If you have bio kids, did you have any issues blending families? I'm open to any and all advice! Our time frame is short because my husband is active duty Air Force, and we are expecting to PCS in late December. I am praying that things will go smoothly with the paperwork and processes involved. Waiting is so hard!!! Thanks! :) :)

I do not have many answers, but I know you will not finalize before Dec, because kids have to be in your home at least 6 months, and things move sooooo slowly in the month of December. If you could stay behind until spring and the fact that your family is military might work in your favor. We have not adopted from TARE, so no help there. Good luck, I hope the state is motivated to get the kids a forever family!

I hope that because they are a sibling set they respond quickly. I inquired about a boy after a matching event and it took his CW about four months to respond to my agency SW. By that time I had my first placement and was not able to take the older boy at that time. He is now on TARE and I inquired again and if his CW has ever contacted my agency I am not aware of it.
Yes, they do have to be in your home for six months before you can petition to adopt.
Good Luck
We were told that I may be able to stay behind to finalize when my husband leaves... However, he needs to be there for the six months ( or the majority of it, seeing as they make exceptions for military at times). This is why we are hoping that they will get us matched in the next 2 months. But thank you ladies for your perspectives! We will restart in Florida if need be, but we are hoping for these specific children if it us possible.
One suggestion I thought of, is to find an agency where you are moving too, so you can start the paperwork. Somethings can transfer and if you request to move the children before adoption you would need an agency on the other end.
It took 3 months for me to be matched to my little guy and another 2 months before I could bring him home. Depending on the childs background and level of service needed it could take awhile to get them settled.
TARE is normally held out as a last resort for the kids from that I have seen, older but with challenges. It would be great if you could talk to the kids CW to see if you are a good match early on, that way the CW can get her side prepared. But the one thing I have learned is EVERYTHING moves 10x slower than is needs too.
Good Luck!
