How long should we expect to hear back after a RAS? And if selected how long would it be before the kids moved in? We are excited to get this far... just wanted to see what the time frame would be.
Oh and does Texas provide funds for clothing for kids if they come to our home with very little clothing? Trying to prepare for the kids when we are selected.

We are foster to adopt, so we had never been through the process of being picked, but if the child is in the system and moving from another foster home, then they should come with plenty of clothing and 'stuff' that belongs to them. If not, then you might be able to get the standard $50 that incoming foster kids get for clothing.

When we were part of a RAS, we found out within 24 hours that we were chosen. But, then we had to wait for the child's redacted files to come in before we could meet him, approx 6 months. I know that the state has hired more workers to help speed the process, so unsure if those times have changed.
They will transition the child into your home, that length of time will all depend on the child.
Best of luck to you!
We actually were the foster parents involved in a RAS. And I guess it depends on the case. For us, the boys were not legally free for adoption, but the state anticipates it will happen. So they moved them to a pre-adoptive home. They met them one weekend, then the boys stayed with them for a few weekends, then moved in with them in less than a month from the initial visit.
As far as clothing, if they are coming from a foster placement, they should come with plenty. We sent our boys with more than enough clothing, diapers, pull ups and other necessities.
Sooooo...How long did it take from inquiry to staffing? And then it was only a week from staffing to confirmation of selection? Have they given you any idea about how long til you get the files? What about when you get the meet the child(ren)? I'm going nuts waiting. There is something about *this kid.* I don't want to bug the worker (I've emailed twice and the old adoption worker had emailed her prior to that on our behalf), but I so want her to get this going! I know workers are so busy but if we are a match (and her old worker seemed to think we might be), it could be that much sooner the child is in an adoptive home and eventually adopted.
