We want to put our adopted son on our insurance and take him off Medicaid. Medicaid and subsidy were granted for him at adoption. Be was adopted through the state of Texas foster system. If so, is there anything special I should know? If we cancel Medicaid will it affect his subsidy?
I doubt if it would affect his subsidy, unless something was specifically stated in the subsidy agreement.
Why don't you just keep the Medicaid as a secondary insurance? If will not harm anything to have it and never use it, but it would be there if you did.
But my knowledge of all this is limited, Medicaid was the only thing I got, the only thing I ask for (either that or a small subsidy to pay for insurance, adding my AD to my work insurance would have cost ridiculous amounts of $$$$).

We have had doctors refuse to see him because he had Medicaid even if we try to go cash pay and not use the Medicaid. I know it sounds stupid. I think so, too. Also, many insurance companies refuse to pay when you have another insurance option.
Lots of people have insurance from their work and put their adopted kiddos on it even if they have Medicaid. the Medicaid becomes secondary insurance if the primary insurance doesn't pay for whatever reason. It doesn't affect the subsidy.
Jfwiw, have you heard of HIPP?
My kids have our insurance as primary and Medicaid secondary.
But even better, the state pays our private health insurance premium!
I know that won't fix your problem of finding providers, but....btw, our dr office officially doesn't bill Medicaid and another insurance but does do it now that we explained HIPP to them.

servnjah, Thanks for posting about HIPP. I've never heard of that, but looks like it might be something worth checking out.
