One of my kiddos permanency was recently changed to adoption (yay!) and I'm all in.
However, I'm vague about the "court costs" are these thousands of dollars? Should I start saving? We're still months, and possibly years away from a resolution. I asked the CW and she sort of hand-waved it and said it wasn't her area (which it totally isn't).
Still, I'd hate to finally get there, after five years, and have to mortgage the house to get the kid.
Anyone have any info to link to? Or personal experiences to share?

The only cost I paid was for the Adoption Lawyer - he only charged what the current reimbursable rate was....don't remember exactly what it was, somewhere between $1, 200 and $1,500 - this included all the court fees, new birth certificate, etc....
For my current FS the cost should be reimbursable from the state because he is a sibling to my adopted daughter. For my AD I took the expenses off my taxes.
our attorney accepted the $1200/child from the state and charged us nothing.
we paid a $265 filing fee to the court for our adoption petition. at court we paid another $60 for the kids' name changes. that's a grand total of $325 to adopt both of our kids.
check with your sw to see what your state offers.
The easiest way to find out court costs would be to go to the Family Court or whatever court jurisdiction presides and find their website page for costs. It will outline fees there. You can do all of that without a lawyer. You've done all of the hard stuff already, you can handle this paperwork. Congratulations!
