My friend has three children ranging from ages seven to thirteen. She is Puerto Rican and speaks both English and Spanish. Her children only speak English. Her grandmother is upset that the kids weren't taught Spanish. Personally I think she has done them a disservice by not making them bilingual. What do you think?
If I were bilingual, I would definitely teach my children to be bilingual as well. It's a great asset, especially as they try to find jobs. Being bilingual is great on a resume because it means you can extend services to a larger audience of people. It's also very good for your brain development.
