HelloI live in Indiana and I filed a petition to adopt my two stepsons. She was served papers and had 30 days to contest which she did so on the last possible day. They set a date for the hearing but she refuses to show up for it. Our lawyer told us that there is nothing we can do until she appears for the hearing. He said we will just have to keep serving her papers. Has anyone had this issue during their stepparent adoption and if so what happened and how did you not have a mental break down.
