Looking for some guidance--Military, South Africa, Funding

Any military families out there in the process of trying to adopt internationally? My husband is concerned he wouldn't be able to take the time off to travel to Africa when/if the time comes. Also, has anyone adopted from South Africa? I would love to hear your story or if you're going through the process, too.
