I have a legal situation in the state of Michigan that I'm looking to get some help with. The foster parent is a nurse and 37 years of age and married to a professional employee. The foster parent has had the care of the chlid for all but several months since the child was 22 months old. The child is now 7.5 years old. MDHHS is on a mission to reunify the child with bio mom. However, the child has expressed to all who will listen that she has only one mom, the foster mother. The child has developed “tics”; has constant nightmares; fear of separation from the only bond she has (the foster mom). One therapist has testified that the current ordered parenting visits (supervised) are causing harm to the child and should stop. i need an expert witness who could talk about ‘bonding’ and ‘permanency’ related to the facts of this case. I am just looking for a little guidance or thought process.

Unless the witness knows the foster parents personally or the bio parents or has observed them in order to speak to that, it won’t matter. There testimony would be useless.
Besides, if they want to reunify, let this child be reunified and step aside.
