Depends on a lot of factors. Has the sister been with the other family over a extended period? I think case workers try not to remove kids like they used to. Keep writing/emailing the caseworker so you have proof of your intent.
So i will try to keep this simple and use the correct terms this is all new to me! We were granted kinship care of a "friends" newborn baby. She came to us at 3 days old. We are 10 months in and the caseworker told me there is a half sister in another state getting icpc approval. In her next breath she told us to complete our foster to adopt license. This "sister" has had contact with the caseworker since day 1but has not reached out to me for visits, updates, gifts nothing. If and when parental termination happens will we have any chance of adopting? Does the fact we were kinship care before foster care give us any advantage? Or the length of time she has been with us? Our caseworker is unfortunately 0 help i know they are over worked and underpaid i just have never been in a situation like this and just need some clarity and she is unable to do that for me! We are in Ohio if that matters any!!
