cohorts and their retention

I recently discovered that they are cohorts and I was delighted with their function, I have even rethought because I had not used it before and it was because I did not know of its existence, now I have a problem and it is that I do not know how to maintain the retention of the cohorts I have no idea, does anyone have an idea how to do it?
