Ques Regarding Obtaining Orig Birth Cert

Need original birth cert. As birth mother on original b'cert. and adoption (my current husb. adopted daughter 36 yrs. ago) I am unable to obtain the records. How can this be done in California. Daughter was born in 1964. thanks Carell

I am attempting to help a birthmother locate her son (placed for adoption in California, 1971) and I am running into the same problem. Is it possible to obtain an original birth certificate in California? And if so, what agency or department should we contact? ~Sharon

I am no longer involved with adoptions in California, and don't know what is necessary to secure the original birth certificate. You might want to contact Vital Records for the county in California where it occurred, or call a California adoption attorney.
