I was born in Dade/South Miami 8/15/65 and brought to NY by my adoptive parents on 8/18/65. The adoption was handled through a private attorney in Queens, NY, whose name my Dad cannot remember and he lost all the paperwork pertaining to my adoption. I only learned about a month ago that I WAS adopted, and would like to know how to go about finding adoption records. I know the adoption was finalized in Queens, NY.
I am awaiting a "book copy" of my birth certificate from Vital Statistics in Florida as the "certificate of live birth" does not contain the name of the hospital or other details that may be helpful to me.

I was adopted at birth through an attorney in the nyc area, I was born in Dade county Florida at haileah hospital, and brought to NY, long Island actually, the adoption was finalized in NY state, which is apparently one of the harder states to get info from.
The Attorney did alot of adoption work, possibly only that. I will try and find her name out, my father remembers her name but I can't get in touch with him know. Do you know any other info, I know my mothers name was Joy simonian, from Texas, but she was young, and I am sure that she has probably got married so has a different last name.
