i am trying to help a friend locate his birth family (especially a set of triplet brothers). in the mean time, i'm also trying to find out what the FL laws were back around 1979 regarding single parent adoptions. it seems that even today, singles have trouble adopting, so i'm really wondering how it was possible for a (wealthy (is that the key????)) single man to adopt 9 & 10 yr old brothers. (this man went on to abuse both boys for years (the younger one is now in a facility because he is so emotionally disabled, the older one leads as "normal" a life as he can, but has a tremendous amount of emotional problems himself).) the boys were put in foster care (with this man) for about a year & then adopted after that (1979 or 1980). the adoption was handled by children's home society in miami. (i am in the process of "trying" to obtain information from chs now.)
