My brother has been looking for his son. Born Feb. 1993 He was contacted by a lawyer who wanted him to come down and sign papers. My brother said no. But the birth mother didn't want him to get custody of his son. paternity would have to be proven since their were other men. My brother received pictures of his son 3 years ago from the birth mother. She said the adoption was open and he could see his son. But when my brother didn't want to get back with her which he made clear that day he hasn't seen her since. back to the lawyer after several calls my brother and the lawyer argued and the lawyer said my brother gave up his rights because during the argument the lawyer said do you give up your rights and my brother said what ever. my brother wants to be able to see his son. he knows he is comfotable with the adoptive parents but wants to know his son. where does he start he knows his first and middle name that is it. thank you
Is there anyway he can write or call the birthmother to let her know he wants to establish some kind of relationship with his child? I would recommend he try to reach her if possible, and hopefully she will provide him with the information. Was this a private adoption or through an attorney? I would check with the state licensing board in which the child was born to offer you a sense of direction as to how to search for his child.
