My sister adopted an 18-mo boy, Hans, from an orphanage in the Kyiv region of the Ukraine about two years ago, http://www.geocities.com/opinco/opinco.html Hans is on the second row from the bottom, center photo.
My mom was part of a large corporate downsizing back in the 1990's. Rather than going back to work, she moved to another state to help take care of my ailing grandmother, whose health is waning. My mom lives with my grandmother. My mom has no income and no health insurance. She has to go to the indigent care clinic to receive health care. I tried buying health coverage online and the cheapest was nearly $200/mo + a $2,000 deductible.
I work for a large computer company. I have good insurance. Any type of dependent child, e.g. biological child, stepchild, foster child, exchange student, temporary non-legal custody, etc., is covered, but not parents, even though they may be a dependent. My mom is my dependent financially. She will most likely live with me when my grandmother passes away. I provided my mom a credit card and an ATM/check card. Mom just turned 60. Grandma is 87.
I am not married and I have no kids so there are no other family members affected by this.
How do I adopt my mom so she will be listed as my dependent and eligible for family health care coverage?
What links or web sites address this topic?

Is your mother an international citizen?
By far the best website I've found for International Health
Insurance (which is much less expensive than domestic bcbs, etc)
is:

We are discovering that many adoption candidates need Medical Insurance before enering the
USA & other countries.
