Terry and I have been together for 12 years, we got married 10 days ago.
My children are 13 and 15, and he has been their DAD since they were 1-1/2 and 3. We want to move forward with the adoption and get thier names changed over, but I am told by Social Services that they wont even look at the request until we have been legally married for 1 year. I want to know if there is anyway to get around this, some type of petition I can get in front of a judge to possibly waive this rule. Both children are very excited about the whole thing, and want to have thier names changed before thier confirmation so that the name on thier certificates are the same as his.
Any help I can get here would be greatly apprecaited.
