Writing this story over and over is so tiring, but everywhere I have written or called for help, I have gotten absolutely nowhere. PLEASE, if anyone has any ideas for us, let me know!
We have been working with an agency here for 21 months. They have pretty much failed us from the start, lying about doing things, avoiding our calls, doing a shabby job at everything. Finally in February I got to the end of my rope waiting for our "worker" to call me back for once, and I submitted an official complaint. We never, EVER did anything wrong and were entirely professional with these people the whole time. All we asked for was for them to pay us some heed and do what they are paid to do. Well, they wrote back and said they refuse to work with us any longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a slap in the face! They compained that they have too much to do already, and sending out 21 homestudies in 21 months was too much, and they said they just "want to be done with" us. Let me tell you about those 21 homestudies. Almost all were inaccurate or sent out far too late. And I said ahead of time what we needed from an agency, and they agreed to help us! At one point I called for 2-3 months and never got one call back!
Now I am afraid our name will be mud in the adoption world down here where we live, and we honestly did nothing wrong! What do we do? And how on earth do we get our homestudy updated with someone else when there are no other agencies down here? I have called lawyers asking whether it is legal here to get independent homestudies done with licensed social workers, and I have been told all sorts of nonsense.... such as that we do not need a homestudy to adopt here! This is untrue. I feel like everywhere I turn, I hear more and more nonsense. Somewhere in this tangled web there must be some answers!
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Meantime, how many of you think it will kill our chances of adopting if we turn this agency in to licensing?
And how do we found out WHO licensing is?
This is a very abbreviated version of our story, but I would appreciate any wisdom you might be willing to share!
Thanks a bunch.
