I am wondering if I can get a copy of a person's birth Cert ? I found my sis in laws bio Mom, and am 99.9 % sure this is her, I just need that last confirmation. Since I have the exact birth date of the Bio Mom, can I go to the Town Hall where the bio Mom was born and get a copy of her BC to confirm the birth date? It is in MA ? I know we cant get the adoptees, nor do we need it. But the Mom's would be the final YES we need.
Anyone who knows this answer, I would appreciate it.

When you go to twon hall to get a copy of a birth certificate they usually ask to see your driver's license now, because of identity theft. Call ahead and ask them what you will need to bring to get a copy. Brenda......

I was able to get ahold of my sisters b.c. She was adopted and it was altered with a different name and her adoptive parents names.
I just called and asked for an uncertified copy, I gave all of the information on the b.c.......accept I needed to know the name of the parents that were on the b.c, and I didn't. So they looked in their rule book and it was not a sealed record, so it was to the discression of the county health officer, by the way I had to go to the health department of the town that she was born in to get this. Anyway, they did give it to me for 5.00 and a copy of my photo I.D. So good luck and I hope it is as easy for you to get ahold of this as it was for me!! The only bad thing is I still can't find her. She had a brother too and I don't even know if she knows about us or if she even knows that she was adopted, but I do believe she was adopted at the age of 5, so maybe she does know.

This isn't exactly in the same context . . . BUT - a clsoe friend of mine and I were taking an out of the country vacation together. She lives in another state, I live in the same state and town in which we were born.
So before she could travel, she needed a copy of her birth certificate. I needed the following to get a copy of someone else's certificate - her date of birth, her mothers maiden name, her fathers name, a letter signed by her authorizing me to get a copy with a copy of her drivers license attached for signature comparison and a photo id of myself.
Oh, and of course, the fee $!
