I was born in 1985 and adopted through Friends of Children. I am a 17 year old girl with curly blond hair and blue-green eyes. I am getting ready to go away to school next fall and just want a little bit of closure. I live in the metro-Atlanta area and I am told that I was born in Augusta, but I have also discovered that many birth certificates read Augusta, and the birth occured somewhere else. If any of this information is familiar, please respond. If this sounds like it might be you, then thank you for life. Please, please contact me.

Searching in Georgia
If you are searching in Georgia it is important that you start your search with background information about your birthparents. Contact the agency that handled your adoption and request "non-identifying" information from your adoption file. The State of Georgia also maintains a "Mutual Consent Registry" where you can post your adoption information for searching birth relatives. If you do not know the name of the agency contact this office:
State of Georgia
Dept of Post Adoptions
Phone: 404-894-2641

Hello, have you gotten anywhere with this? I am looking for a nephew who was adopted thru that agency in 1987. My sister passed away, and I promised I would look into this for her. Please let me know if you found out what happened to those files. my e-mail is bbriman@msn.com
I also put a son up for adoption w/ American Friends of Children but it was in 1988 and in Washington, DC and I haven't had much luck finding anything either.

Anyone seeking information on any of the "Friends of Children" agencies should do a Google search on the name Seymour Kurtz
I would suggest contacting your state Department of Health and asking if they can tell you what happened to the records after these agencies were shut down.
Hi,
I was adopted through Friends of Children though Easter House. Rome, Georgia on August 9, 1983. I do not have a lot of information. My hospital records do not list the hospital name. I may have been in an Atlanta hospital at 1: 51pm. Names on my mom's notes from the time list Seymour Kurtz and Marianne Zahner. Any information any one has would be much appreciated. I hope to learn more about my biological family.
