We are planning to adopt my niece in PI, I'm still holding my Filipino citizenship my husband is French working here in US and has got a working visa; I tried to call an agency in San Francisco and asked her if they can help us to adopt in PI she told me that as we are not a US citizen it's impossible for them to help us. Does anybody know any agency who can help us with our case?
whether you can adopt from the Philippines; you probably can. The issue is whether you can bring the child into the U.S. on an adoption visa. Adoption visas are granted ONLY to families in which at least one parent is a U.S. citizen. If you cannot get an adoption visa for a child you adopt, you will have to live overseas with the child for two years before bringing him/her to the U.S. on a regular visa.
For more information, contact the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization service or a reputable immigration attorney who handles adoption cases.
